Sevaris: Oh my god, you have a long way to go, padawan. Your gear needs to be worked on, and the best way to actually do that is to get people from Meep chat and actually run random heroics with you. Farm regular ToC religiously until an item called Abyssal Rune drops. It is awesome. ToC regular also drops some pretty nice cloth drops, as well as heroic. The latter I need to farm on Jatayu because I'm going for a hippogryph and a poooooony, so when I get back, you'll come with me kthnx

Thelarus: This build is your friend. LOSE HIT VALUE. Mages should be at 7% at the very least, 8% at the most. Your gemming needs improvement (moar sp gems)... so continue to go to ToC10/25 and continue to get gear from there.

Phyrub: Oh lord have mercy. Chaotic Skyflare Diamond, for starters. That should be the ONLY meta you use as a mage. Get a different neck piece, one that has haste. 4pt9 is also good, and as you have a good Robe, go for helm/shoulders/gloves/pants. You don't need to gem for sockets 99.9% of the time. Replace some of those blue gems with red +23s. Or if you're not rich (or have lots of alts), the blue version will do you just as well, and they're cheap on the AH. Icewalker is a great enchant, yes, but go with Tuskarr's Vitality. 50sp/30 stam is okay, but 50sp/20 spirit is better, as well as an Abyssal Rune. Heartmender's Circle is inappropriate for arcane mages, the one with haste will do you appropriately. Brimstone Igniter should be replaced with the one that drops from Icehowl (and even the ilevel 232 one will do nicely).

And then your spec. This makes me sadface, even while I'm waiting for tomorrow to come around. This build or This build is what you should be going for, to be honest.

Evocare: LESS HIT. The blue gem in your helm needs to be sp/spirit. Need a better neck piece. Don't need to gem for sockets-- WAIT FOR A SECOND. YOU PICKED UP THE HEALING RING FOR REPALDKFJSLKJSDFLKJSDOFIUWERLKMNVC!!! This makes me angry. Get the other caster one. You can get away with gemming your helm and boots with blue gems, but everything else should be +23 SP and a mixture of sp and haste. Your trinkets suck. Abyssal Rune is a very helpful trinket, even into ICC... until you get Dislodged Foreign Object or Reign of the Unliving. The other one, especially, should be Talisman of Resurgence.

By the way, since my talk with Red: A proper arcane rotation is ABx4 AM.

What I mean is, by the time you have four Arcane Blast stacks, you SHOULD have Missile Barrage procced and you can use Arcane Missiles. As another helpful hint: Tie Arcane Power and Icy Veins together with a /use trinket... if Mirror Image doesn't use GCD, tie that together too. =P

Yeah I am working on boots and neck lol.  They just never seem to drop.  As for the T9 4pc, I don't have near enough badges since I have been using them on Gems for Ecuas :/

When it comes to the build I am using, it was the suggested one on Elitist.  I am assuming the one you want me using is the same as yours?  I can try it out tonight in Ulduar.

I usually see a good amount of dps increase when there's a priest in the group (spirit buff), even better if it's disc... most of the fights there aren't one, and the regular priest healers don't bubble you, it's horribad on your dps. This is most visible on 10 man ToC, Twins. If you do the stack method and there's no disc priest, you'll still do awesome, but if you had one in the raid, you'd have the sp buff almost all the time. This is true for Anub, in phase 3.

2/3 Student of the Mind and 2/3 Incanter's Absorption should be more than fine, especially in Ulduar. Fights where there is a lot of AoE damage (Almost every fight that doesn't involve a vehicle) makes disc priests your best friends.

Forgive the mp5 dagger as I was replacing a weapon from a heroic. I know I can lose a bit of hit too. The point in slow is for Saurfang.

It's just more of the same, really. Less blue gems (headpiece and chest), a ring with haste, and better trinkets! =P

Slow is fine, especially for Saurfang. It'll also get use in Deathwhisper and any other add fight, which is good.

Hey, where is my review Ama?

I know the last two or three Arcane talent points vary widely among mages, but have you guys considered Incanter's Absorption 2/3? When combined with Frost Warding and/or a shields from a generous Disc Priest, it is up for a lot of the fights. In TotC, you can force it to proc for most bosses pretty easily (not so easily on Faction Champs).

In ICC, I see IA procs on Marrowgar, Lady Deathwhisper, and Festergut.. those are enough encounters for me to justify keeping it around.

RAWR is another good resource to help with gear, gem, and enchant recommendations.

The easiest way to use it is to plug in all your gear (even the stuff in your bank) and then run the Optimizer. You can customize the Optimizer with specific parameters like min/max stat values for hit, haste, etc.

RAWR is useful for gem recommendations and will suggest when you should or should not break the gemming bonus on a piece of gear.

If you need any help with configuration, let me know. I use it all the time.

1.) There's NOTHING wrong with my helm gem. 
2.) Less hit??? 303 is not too much- b/c it's BUILT IN TO MY GEAR EXCEPT FOR MY TRINKET!
3.) I know my neck is a 232- and my 226 which is lower has more haste ya... *logged out for gearscore upping*
4.) YES I PICKED UP THE GOD DAMN HEALER RING -I dont need the f'ing hit on it- so .... WTF is the problem?? You say here... LESS HIT... -so... really how does that make sense??AVEOJAIEAGJGIIIJIJSDIFJ ya.. it's annoying
5.)And why should it make you angry if it's not for you-.. and it's for red... seriously I'd prefer to keep my socket bonuses if it's spellpower -and I get 3 more SP out of the correct socketing bonus than I would if it were just spellpower +23 each............
6.) My trinkets do not... suck.- I like the trade off of having 158 more spell power vs. Haste. I'm at 880. I mean is it really that big of a -trade off...really? ALSO- As for my Talisman of Resurgence-If I don't use the Hit trinket it drops me down to 92 hit.... 92.... and that's not -gonna work. So if i do that, where.. oh where... do you suppose I'm going to get that hit back? I'm not going to re-socket my gear for hit -gems and chants seeings as you already ripped me for having too much hit. Which is built in and I can't help.

8.) As far as your other helpful hint, I do pop and burst all of my goodies at the same time. 

My Feelings on the matter:
I know you're just doing this for red, but before you post things in CAPITAL LETTERS and not actually talk to the person that it kinda feels like you're slamming on here, it'd be nice for you to ask them a few questions first ie: Did you log out in your raid gear? or my shallow set- for gear ratings post.


I know you're not trying to pick at me and you're just trying to ..... help.... but... when you type things-... it kinda came of nasty and rude to me... so this is how I feel about it.

When it comes to the build I am using, it was the suggested one on Elitist.  I am assuming the one you want me using is the same as yours?

This is relevant, interesting dialogue; a sharing of ideas.

The general concept is for ideas to be successfully traded back and forth, even debated when it comes to pumping out higher DPS. MEEP is a raid where we're all about less than perfect setups. For example, we'll take a frost mage who adores that spec over the other two. I myself am OCD enough to want to match socket colours, whether or not the socket bonus is all that useful.

That said, there is a difference between tolerance and recognition. We'll tolerate a frost mage; but we do recognize that frost is inferior DPS compared to Arcane. We'll tolerate gems that match colours when it'd be more efficient to ignore the socket bonuses; but we ask that the player at least recognize that they are making a choice different from what people in the high-end server-first raids would choose.

In any case, yes, Amaroese could have taken time to pull each of my mage raiders aside and spoken with them. But it's actually far more efficient to post here, when it's convenient for him; and then to have my other raiders post here, when it is convenient for them. I expect my raiders (and guildmates!) to have relatively thick skins, to be able to take it as well as dish it. And I've not yet met a mage who couldn't dish it out when the opportunity called. Mostly at my expense. Sigh.

As a side note, the "Since my talk with Red, proper rotation is this and tip for using Trinkets like this" section of that second post was directed at all mages, as a useful addition to the thread in case we had mages who didn't know otherwise. It was not part of the specific person's review.

That being said, I think one of the key points in Evo's post was that typing in caps makes it look like you're mad, and genuinely upset about something.

By the same token, I don't think I ever improved in this game (and Mist said the same thing) by people saying, "How you play/gem/gear/spec is fine; don't change anything."
