MEEP 25 Raid Guidelines

Be sure to join the MEEP chat channel!
  • Type "/join MEEP" in your in-game chat bar, and stay in contact with the crew.
This is especially important for non-guild raiders!

Raid Environment
  • Our aim is to run a relaxed, serious but fun raid that progresses through end-game content.
  • Be prepared to receive criticism. Accepting it gracefully will get you far, both in raids and in life.
  • Looting will take place quickly, even if we decide to keep pulling trash. Pay attention!!!
  • On progression, there will be wipes. There could be many, many wipes. We're ok with that. Are you?
  • Failbot/EnsidiaFails may be employed in raid chat, that we may laugh if you stand in fire. Learn to laugh at yourself...
  • ... but if your name pops up on Failbot every single attempt, you may be called to the Principal's Office.
  • Continual improvement and effort are the main measure of worth. Our elemental shaman who continually raises their DPS and now puts out 7000 will -not- lose their raid spot to a new applicant with 8000 DPS. MEEP invests in its members. As long as you continue to grow, we will help you do so.
  • Get decently enchanted and gemmed. Work on your Sons of Hodir dailies for the shoulder enchants. No excuses. Consider using WoW-Heroes or Be Imba to review your choices.

Raid Times
  • Normal raid times are Tuesday through Thursday, 6:30pm-10pm server time (PST, GMT-8)
  • We will try to finish around 9:30, however. We only ask that you schedule until 10, just in case we only need that one last attempt to down a new progression boss, eh?
  • First pull happens at 6:30. Be ready, be flasked, be buffed!
  • Have your add-ons updated prior to start time, please! I'm looking at you, DBM & Pally Power.
  • The secret word is "pontificate".
  • Raid will begin forming up 30 minutes before raid start time. The final round of invitations will be sent 15 minutes prior to start time. Typically we do our best to hold spots for people we know are coming, but we reserve the right to find a replacement for you if it's 14 minutes before start time and we haven't heard from you.

Making sure you get priority on raids
  • Our first priority is to ensure we have correct numbers of geared and experienced tanks, healers, and DPS. To this end, we demand 2 tanks, 4-5 healers, and roughly 8-10 DPS come from our Official Roster each night.
  • Class balance is also important. We like heroism <3
  • The calender may be locked a day or so before the raid, so hit Accept/Decline as soon as possible! If we lock the calendar like that, some Accepted people will be changed to Confirmed, which means their spots are guaranteed for the raid, so long as they show up for the final invite 15 minutes prior to raid. Remaining spots at that time will go first to Accepted raiders on the calendar, then to other raiders that are online but didn't sign up on the calendar.
  • General attendance and performance is considered when giving spots.
  • Flask.
  • Move quickly, and recover from wipes without hassle.
  • Know your class!!! Shadow priests have Divine Hymn on your bar, and feral druids have Tranquility and Innervate. Mages have Remove curse, and Huntards of all specs have Tranq Shot available when called for. DPS roles especially need to be prepared to do more than just DPS.

Ventrilo
  • Vent is required. (except when it's not)
  • Microphones are not required.
  • Cursing is not required, but generally allowed--the more creative and tasteful, the better. Note that cursin' like a rappa is not encouraged, and may result in being globally muted.
  • In fact, global mutes may occur whenever we Vent admins feel like it. <3
  • Vent chatter is informal and ribald. If you are not over 18, pretend you are.
  • Bring a thick skin, either yours or someone else's.

Required Add-Ons
  • Paladins must have PallyPower (link). Failure to Pally Power will result in no heals 4 u. If you absolutely refuse to run PallyPower, contact Reddon, Jasteus, or Marié to explain why.

Optional Add-ons
The following add-ons are highly recommended. It is alright to use equivalent add-ons, or no add-ons at all if you don't need them. However, if you fail during raid in a manner that one of these add-ons would have addressed, don't expect us to be too happy. Speak to an officer with questions.
  • Deadly Boss Mods (link) or any raid warning mod
  • Decursive (link) or any debuff-removing mod
  • Omen Threat Meter (link) Always be aware of aggro!
  • Grid (link) or any raidframe mod that will allow you to see the entire raid. Note that Grid can be configured to be extremely tiny, for you DPS who don't monitor raid health bars like healers do. However, if we ask a boomkin to battle res a hunter, and they respond with "Sorry, I can't, I don't have their party bar pulled out", you will be slaughtered on sight.

Loot Rules
  • Old content raids are usually "free roll, any spec". Please be considerate, and use "/roll 1-1" for items that you could use but are willing to pass on.
  • Current content utilizes Loot Council
  • PUGs will roll for Main Spec--if they roll highest, they win the item!
  • After that, items will generally go to either the highest roller, or to any recruits who need gear
  • INCREDIBLE ITEMS--best in slot gear, or awesome trinkets--will usually go to our best attenders and highest performers.
  • Officers have final say over loot distribution. If there is significant contention over loot after the officers have stated their decision, then the loot will be held until break or after raid, when all concerned parties have a chance to discuss... but...
  • ... that doesn't mean your whining will change anything. What part of Tyrant didn't you understand?
  • On top of this, some players are still working off their old system's DKP through "freebie points". Thos will be handled on a case-by-case basis until all DKP is gone.

8/21/09 changes

-) EP/GP to be used starting next week

8/27 changes

-) All non-guild raiders are required to place an alt--even just a level 1 trash alt--in the guild. This is because the EP/GP add-ons only work for guildmates, so we'll use your alt to 'bounce' your points to your non-guilded raider.

-) If more than 25 people show up for raid, the following criterion will be used to determine who enters versus who waits on standby:
  • number of Tanks, Healers, and DPS needed
  • listed as "confirmed" on the in-game calendar
  • seniority, attendance, and general performance

-) Make sure to accept the in-game calendar invites! A day or two before raid, those who have accepted will have their status changed to "confirmed", thus giving them priority over other players. If you want to secure your raid spot, make sure to accept ahead of time!

To come in future updates:
-) precise benefits from Wednesday raids
-) compensation EP/GP rewards for players who were "confirmed" on the in-game calendar, showed up on time... but had to sit out anyway due to an overflow of players.

9/3 changes

-) EP/GP loot system is live!

-) New required add-on: EPGP Lootmaster (Link at Curse.com). You should run the EPGP Lootmaster - Core portion, and are welcome to run the EPGP Lootmaster - ML section as well. If you don't run this mod, you will have to whisper the raid leader every time you want to bid on something.

On, how to make sure you get priority to raids:
-) Know your class!!! Shadow priests have Divine Hymn on your bar, and feral druids have Tranquility. Huntards of all specs have Tranq Shot available when called for. DPS roles especially need to be prepared to do more than just DPS.
-) Flasks.

On raid environment:
-) Get decently enchanted and gemmed. Work on your Sons of Hodir dailies for the shoulder enchants. No excuses.

Also, made some cosmetic changes to the list. I'm attempting to trim it down because, gosh darn it, these rules are LONG

Edits on Tuesday morning, 11/17:

-) Updated new schedule to reflect Tuesday ToC, Wednesday Something™, and Thursday Ulduar.

-) Edited Raid times to properly reflect a 5:45 (15 minutes prior to raid) deadline for being online.

-) Edited "Making sure you get priority on raids" to reflect the new Raid Roster first string guildline, as well as the calendar policy. Make sure you accept/decline ahead of time, because the calender will be locked the day before or so, and (once first string is satisified) those who accepted ahead of time will be given priority over those who did not. Confirmed means your spot is guaranteed as long as you show up by 5:45. Accepted means you get priority over others at 5:45 when we fill in the remaining spots.

-) Rewrote the EPGP loot policy to refer to "old content is usually free roll" and "new content is EPGP", so we don't have to edit it for specific instance names each patch. Added that old content may reward minor EPGP rewards for participation.

-) Added a preference that your MEEP alt for EPGP be named similarly to your main, if it's a trash alt.

-) Added that raiders are allowed to spend their points for the benefit of other raid members, but not for selling gear mid-raid.

-) Added that even within EPGP, the officers reserve the right to Loot Council for the good of the raid. Where there are serious concerns after the officers have reached a decision, the loot will be held until break or raid's end. Also wrote that, under this raid's tyrannical leadership, the right to express an opposing opinion does not equal the requirement that we compromise. Tyranny is srs bsns.

-) Added that EPGPweb.com is not always up to date, and may require asking an officer to manually update it.

12/28 Edits:

-) Changed raid time from 6-10, to 6:30-10
-) Condensed schedule by removing specific instances, and merely saying we try to end by 9:30
-) Moved Pally Power from "Semi-required add-ons" to "Required Add-ons" because I hate not having it available.
-) Other minor edits for readability, not content
